چکیده

We consider a population with non-overlapping generations, whose size goes to infinity. It is described by a discrete genealogy which may be time non-homogeneous and we pay special attention to branching trees in varying environments. A Markov chain models the dynamic of the trait of each individual along this genealogy and may also be time nonhomogeneous. Such models are motivated by transmission processes in the cell division, reproduction-dispersion dynamics or sampling problems in evolution. We want to determine the evolution of the distribution of the traits among the population, namely the asymptotic behavior of the proportion of individuals with a given trait. We prove some quenched laws of large numbers which rely on the ergodicity of an auxiliary process, in the same vein as [21, 15]. Applications to time inhomogeneous Markov chains lead us to derive a backward (with respect to the environment) law of large numbers and a law of large numbers on the whole population until generation n. A central limit is also established in the transient case.

SOME PROBABILISTIC INEQUALITIES FOR FUZZY RANDOM VARIABLES

In this paper, the concepts of positive dependence and linearlypositive quadrant dependence are introduced for fuzzy random variables. Also,an inequality is obtained for partial sums of linearly positive quadrant depen-dent fuzzy random variables. Moreover, a weak law of large numbers is estab-lished for linearly positive quadrant dependent fuzzy random variables. Weextend some well known inequ...

Some limit results for Markov chains indexed by trees *

We consider a sequence of Markov chains (X)n=1,2,... with X = (X σ )σ∈T , indexed by the full binary tree T = T0 ∪ T1 ∪ . . . , where Tk is the k-th generation of T . In addition, let (Σk)k=0,1,2,... be a random walk on T with Σk ∈ Tk and R̃ = (R̃ t )t≥0 with R̃ t := XΣ[tn] , arising by observing the Markov chain X n along the random walk. We present a law of large numbers concerning the empirical...

The life and work of A . A . Markov Gely

The Russian mathematician A.A. Markov (1856–1922) is known for his work in number theory, analysis, and probability theory. He extended the weak law of large numbers and the central limit theorem to certain sequences of dependent random variables forming special classes of what are now known as Markov chains. For illustrative purposes Markov applied his chains to the distribution of vowels and ...

Strong Law of Large Numbers and Central Limit Theorems for functionals of inhomogeneous Semi-Markov processes

Abstract: Limit theorems for functionals of classical (homogeneous) Markov renewal and semi-Markov processes have been known for a long time, since the pioneering work of R. Pyke and R. Schaufele (1964). Since then, these processes, as well as their time-inhomogeneous generalizations, have found many applications, for example in finance and insurance. Unfortunately, no limit theorems have been ...
